Einstein’s Brain

Fall2

by Clifton Snider

He played Mozart on the violin
& stuck his tongue out
for the camera,
hair flying and flopping
like synapses gone wild.

Icon of genius,
brain bigger than usual,
he left it to science
to be sliced into minute detail,
parsed and purloined and now
nearly 60 years after he died
scientists say he had an enormous
corpus callosum.

Long & generous,
well endowed for any man,
young or old,
it reached from his forehead to nape,
pulsed with electrical messages
from right to left brain,
creative synergy,
the truth of yoga
–balance–
his truth.
