Holding You In Winter

redyellow2

By Frank Kearns

We had our times…..the easy times
the times of heat
the times of youth with
love enough to squander

you held my hand through other times
dark hours when I felt that hope
was somehow way beyond my reach

I like to think I did the same for you
and that together we have found
warm places in the sun

I lay my body in the bed
And turn to where you sleep
And fit my tired chest against
The sweet curves of your spine

and in our time of winter
we lean against each other tighter still
your touch unlocks my winter mind
and warms the mystery

Our skin together just enough
For slow electric flow
That welds the secrets of our love
In whispers and quiet eddies
