Lheydrian Martinez is eighteen and currently attending her first semester at Golden West College in Huntington Beach. She plans to study journalism and communications with an emphasis on politics. She says about herself: “In my free time I write and listen to music. Nothing shapes my life the way that writing does because it is a part of me just as much as my arm is a part of my body. Without writing I am just average with nothing to offer the world but a corpse. I was born and raised a majority of my life in Long Beach; but that isn’t my true connection to Long Beach. My connection to Long Beach is East 53 Street; the street my grandparents live on with the apricot tree and white rose bushes. The street my godfather lives on with a garage full of knick knacks and punching bags. Long Beach symbolizes summertime adventures in backyards, family and homemade Mexican food.”
