George Hammons was born in San Francisco, California. He lived for many early years in Phoenix, Arizona, during which time he spent most summers and holidays in Compton, California. He eventually moved to Compton during his last two years of high school and graduated from Verbum Dei High School, in Los Angeles California. He attended California State University at Fullerton, Rancho Santiago College, in Santa Ana California and California State University San Bernardino and currently lives in Pomona, California, where he is working on multiple poetry projects. George has three adult children whom he loves ferociously and he believes that often it is the families that we choose (our friends) who shape us the most.
