Kitchen Follies

Open the fridge,
take out a yogurt,
tear off the top;
the creamy pink blend
explodes across my shirt.

Cold coffee in the microwave,
seconds whizzing away,
blue digits count down,
time glowing as it goes.

My uncle ate a raw onion
like an apple
every day
for the health of his heart.
He lived a long, lonely life.

I buy a constant stream of Fiber One bars
and one day devoured five in a row,
rapid fire, over half an hour.
Roughage, it’s true, has many benefits.
But too much Fiber One at one time
is not
a good idea.
