Cadence Collective: Year Two Anthology Release Event and Fundraiser

CCY2A Cover 2We are happy to announce the Cadence Collective: Year Two Anthology release event will be on Sunday, August 23rd, from 3-6 pm at Viento Y Agua Coffeehouse! This year’s anthology has 147 poems from 71 poets, as well as artwork by Esmeralda Villalobos and yearbook portraits by Fernando Gallegos. Plan on arriving between 3-3:30 to pick up your contributor copy, sign up on the reading list, meet with our artists, and buy a cold drink. Everyone who signs up can read up to 3 of their own or anyone else’s poems from the anthology. The reading will go until about 5:30. Then we’ll have another 30 minutes to sign each other’s books and browse our popup bookstore. If you’d like your books or other items to be sold, please bring them early.

We have over 75 poets and other contributors who have worked hard to make this book happen. We are happy to provide a contributor copy to everyone involved, but it does come with a large expense. To help with these and ongoing website costs, we have set up some fundraising efforts:

1. Preorder additional copies of the anthology for your family and friends. We have set up a special preorder store site (mkt.com/sadiegirlpress) where you can get the anthology and any other item in the Sadie Girl Press library for 20% off! Use the promotional code: PREORDER MADNESS any time between now and the morning of the event to get the discount and have the items ready for pick up at Viento Y Agua. (Note: It will ask you for your shipping address, but please enter the coffeehouse address at 4007 E. 4th St., Long Beach, CA 90814 so we’ll bring it to the event.) Preorder copies of the anthology will be only $12 after the discount!

2. Buy books and art on the day of the event. We will have a special sale on the anthology and all the other titles at the event. Esmeralda will have some prints for sale of the art we have used in the last 2 years on the website (which will also be available for presale shortly). Fernando will have portraits from this year and last year for sale to cover his own costs. Both artists have generously given their time and own art supplies to this project (as well as many others) and we’d love to give them something back.

3. You can also donate funds directly through PayPal to smtatro@hotmail.com or throw some cash in the tip jar on the day of the event.

Please help us out by sharing this information and event with as many people as possible. RSVP on Facebook
