Letter to and from home

The photos of you
in the album
they are my favorite

I live in Spain now
with mom, our brothers
and our dad

Our family
is from the USA
where you live

I am a baby and
don’t remember things well
so we point at the portraits
say grandma, nana
aunt and uncle
say cousins

And then this one
this pretty one
with dad’s blue eyes
is sister

I try to draw extra good
when we send you letters
stamped AIR MAIL
and smile at the camera
so you will have
a nice picture of me

For you
I will cross an ocean
one day, for you
I will fly through the sky

You are home now
in my memory of things
you are home
