As by now you know, Saturday is Long Beach Poetry Festival’s big day. We have been featuring poets chosen by the hosts of the event. Today Tamara Madison introduces Monica Copeland. In Tamara Madison’s words:
Some poets are better at performing their own work than others. This is something we keep in mind when selecting the poets for the Festival. This year, we have many outstanding readers. This year Monica Copeland, a talented poet and fascinating reader with roots in the SLAM poetry movement. Copeland’s poetry is deep, strong and wrenching; when she reads her work, she brings the audience right into the heart of her poetry. Audiences will be moved and entertained by this beautiful and accomplished poet.
Watch Monica perform her poem about when she lived in Chicago below.
